可是，这个时代里，老虎、雪豹、云豹、猞猁、金猫等大型猫科动物早已灭绝，这令库塔非常失望。
这天下午，库塔带着小猫到郊区的小山坡玩，黄昏落日下，他站在高坡处仰望天空，看着天空的团团火烧云，库塔以异于大人的想象力，仿佛看到了天际上，百兽之王老虎的亡魂，威风凛凛地率领着大猫们，回来到了地球……”
作品以后代人类小孩侧面入手，让虚幻的大猫与现实的小猫形成生物关联，再让远处高科技现代城市与野生动物形成讽刺性对比，唤醒人们对野生动物濒临灭绝的危机感。
