My piece represents the tragic loss of the Yangtze River Dolphin or Baiji. It was inspired by the legend of the Goddess of the Yangtze River, the story of a young girl drowned in the river who became a Baiji. In my painting I show the two parts of the Goddess of the River, the girl and her new identity; I also see the subject of the painting as a harmonious encounter between two characters. I want to get the message across that when we lose a species to extinction we don’t just lose an animal in the biosphere we lose a part of our heritage, mythology and ultimately ourselves.　[隐藏]
