Next is the interview with Andrew Jones, from SOP Organizing Committee:

1. Q: How you become interested in CG art? Based on your experience, what's the most valuable quality of CG?
A: CG art can be defined by the creative use of available technology to accent the parameters of an artist's imagination. I have always held a particular fascination with tools. I also believe that every contemporary artist has a responsibility to take full advantage of all the creative possibilities that are available to them.
The most valuable quality of CG is the ability to combine the strengths of different drawing and modeling applications that can't render exponential possibilities.

2. Q: The poster you create portrays a woman surrounded by wild animals. Could you tell us how you got inspired? What are you trying to tell viewers? What's your interpretation about environmental protection?
A: Before the "Share One Planet" poster my concept was to visually communicate the interconnected nature of humans and animals as one collective living intelligent being. As humans we often separate ourselves due to the awareness of our consciousness and intelligence. However, the truly conscious viewpoint is the awareness that we are all connected in the matrix of a very delicate biosphere. We also have an obligation to be guardians of this fragile relationship because all living animals and humans are only an extension of the planet Earth's consciousness.

3. Q: Simulate the nature is a common way of art creation. We can find many element of nature in your works.  As a pioneer CG artist, could you tell us how the nature inspires you?
A: I my life I have found that nature is the supreme source of creative inspiration. Its beauty and complexity is indescribable and the brilliance of its molecular density is impossible for us to truly comprehend.

4. Q: Your works leave people a mysterious, aesthetic and romantic impression. Are you familiar with the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and Dante Gabriel Rossetti? They believe the essence of art is spiritual and they are against realism, what's your opinion about this theory? What's your understanding about the essence of art?
A: Yes, I do share similar beliefs of the Pre-Raphaelite movement. I view realism as an attempt to portray photographic taxidermy in any 2-dimensional image as an abstract interpretation of reality.
For me, the essence of art is to reflect and multiply beauty to then inspire the inner truth of my audience. Art, in essence, is a reminder of each of our infinite potential as creative beings.

5. Q: "Share One Planet" receives praise from both art professionals (artists, critics etc.) and ordinary viewers. Many artists find it difficult to balance self expression and comprehension of the viewers. Could you share your thoughts about this issue?
A: The more universal I make an image, the more accessible it is to a wider variety of people. I leave room in my art for multiple interpretations and I have no expectations of my viewers' interpretation.

6. Q: You are already a successful CG artist. How you expect to find a break-through in your future career? Do you have any new plans at the moment?
A: There are no limits to what each of us are capable of creating. My goals are finding ways of translating the visions that I transcribe in pixels into immersive three-dimensional holographic experiences as I evolve my vision alongside the merging breakthroughs in technology. I plan to create visual immersive experiences that expand creative consciousness.
